Presented (online) as part of the exhibition Moving Through Time and Space - a selection of video works by David Tomas

At the invitation of Dazibao, the Contemporary Art Auction Research Group, originally directed by David Tomas, presents a video reflection on the exhibition Moving Through Time and Space. At once a tour of the exhibition and a meta-commentary on the videographic medium, this work experimentally tackles some (as they are not all) of the questions surrounding the devices for capturing and projecting, broadcasting and receiving the works in the exhibition.

This video work takes the form of a diptych, juxtaposing macro and micro points of view to produce a tension between two temporalities of the exhibition. Reflecting on the most recent projects carried out within the research group, this project refers, on the one hand, to the sequencing of the exhibition as an integral part of its significant temporality. Restricting, replaying and dissipating are strategies Tomas explores in turn to confront the public with the reception of the work. On the other hand, the idea of the camera eye, a recurring motif in Tomas's early work, is used in this project alongside exhibition views, as a nod to Tomas's systemic thinking.
